One Less Gun: Officers Arrest 15-year-old Male in Possession of Loaded Firearm

At about 1:50 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2018, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 97 Devon Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed an unknown male wearing dark clothing hop a fence and flee on foot towards Stanwood Street. As the officer broadcast a description, officers observed a second male in the rear of a nearby residence standing at the base of the back porch. Officers ordered the suspect to get on the ground, and after he complied, the suspect stated he was just trying to buy marijuana. Officers then observed a folded shirt sitting on top of a snowbank within arm’s length of the suspect. The officer noted that the shirt did not have any snow on top of it. When the officer used his foot to unfold the shirt, he observed a loaded black Beretta Model 92G Vertec inside. Officers used thermal imaging to determine that the firearm was recently placed in that location. Officers then arrested the suspect, identified as a 15-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester, and charged him with Delinquent to wit; Trespassing, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Delinquent to wit; Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
