INVESTIGATION UPDATE: Second Homicide Suspect Located & Arrested Hiding in Closet in Holbrook, MA


Today, Wednesday, February 21, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit along with members of the Holbrook Police Department located and arrested Ralph Brown, 43, of Boston in the area of 156 Longmeadow Drive in Holbrook, Massachusetts. Brown was found hiding in a closet. After a brief struggle with officers he was taken into custody. Brown was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant for Murder and firearms charges for his involvement in the January 11, 2018 murder of Shaquille Browder in Dorchester. Brown is the second suspect arrested for this murder. Last week, Kyle Williams-Gathers was the first suspect in this homicide located and arrested after a standoff in Walpole.

Said Commissioner Evans, "This arrest is evident of our commitment to the victim's and their loved ones that we will not rest until all those responsible are brought to justice. I commend the work of everyone involved in this investigation which led to the arrests of now both suspects this brazen daytime shooting." 

The facts and circumstances of the original incident are as follows: At about 2:03 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located a male victim in his early 20’s suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. This victim has since been identified as Shaquille Browder, 21, of Roxbury. Officers located a second male victim in his early 20’s who had fled the scene suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. That victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 14, 2018, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and BPD Homicide Unit, with assistance from the Walpole Police and METROLEC SWAT, arrested Kyle Williams-Gathers, 31, of Boston after a five hour stand-off in the area of 915 Hill Top Street in Walpole, Massachusetts. Williams-Gathers was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant charging him with murder of Shaquille Browder on January 11, 2018.
