A few months after already making two arrests in connection to the shooting death of 19-year-old Javoni Boyd, investigators have now arrested a third suspect who will be charged with Murder. At about 9:25 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2017, members of the BPD Homicide and Fugitive Apprehension Units located and arrested 24-year-old Jerome Greenaway of Hyde Park, in the area of Cleary Square in Hyde Park as a result of their ongoing investigation. The suspect will be arraigned on one count of Murder and three counts of Assault to Murder today in West Roxbury District Court.
“The BPD Homicide detectives have worked this case tirelessly for the past three and a half months,” said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. “They didn’t close the case simply because they made that first arrest in July. Their goal is to hold every single person responsible for this young man’s death accountable for their criminal acts and bring justice for Javoni and his family.”
The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows:
At about 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 165 Delhi Street. On arrival, officers located a male victim, later identified as Boyd, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Boyd was pronounced deceased at the scene.
