As an officer was performing a pat frisk of one of the subjects, later identified as Cornell Bell, 22, of Dorchester, he immediately felt the handle of a firearm at which time the suspect took off running. Officers pursued the suspect for several blocks before finally placing him in custody in the area of 91 Neponset Avenue. As the foot pursuit occurred, another officer attempted to pat frisk the second individual, later identified as Jerdi Matos, 19, of Providence, RI, who also immediately took off running, causing a second and simultaneous pursuit. Officers confirmed that there were no injuries at the scene of the original call for shots fired but did locate ballistic evidence and damage to a parked motor vehicle. It was not immediately clear if the two suspects were directly or indirectly involved in the incident.
