Two days after an armed robbery of a convenience store in Hyde Park, one of the suspects responsible for the crime is behind bars. At about 7:20 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2017, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a call for an armed robbery in progress at 1503 River Street (River Park Food Mart) in Hyde Park. On arrival, officers spoke to store employees who stated that three males entered the location and attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. During the robbery, one of the suspects discharged a firearm striking two victims. Both victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries. After an extensive investigation and thorough review of the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, investigators were able to identify one of the suspects. Earlier this evening, at about 7:00pm, on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, members of the BPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit were able to locate and apprehend Nickolas Baldeo, 20, of Fall River who is charged with Armed Robbery, Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Assault to Rob.
Said Commissioner William Evans: “I want to commend my officers for the dogged determination and hard work that led to the timely arrest of the suspect in this case. Clearly, our city’s a safer place with an individual like this behind bars and, again, I want to thank my officers for comprehensive investigation that led to his apprehension.”
