INCIDENT #1: At about 11:07 PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, an officer from District B-2 (Roxbury) was flagged down by a robbery victim in the area of 55 Malcolm X Boulevard. The officer was informed that two males approached the victim, motioned that they had a knife, and threatened to stab him. The males then grabbed his handheld video game and fled the scene on foot toward Roxbury Street. Officers canvassed the area and observed an individual near 205 Roxbury Street who fit the suspect description and appeared to be sweating profusely and breathing heavily as if he had been running. Officers stopped the individual and a pat frisk revealed a folding box cutter in the individual’s pocket. Further investigation allowed officers to positively identify the individual as one of the suspects in the robbery. Officers arrested 28-year-old Marquis Kevin Jones of Roxbury and charged him with Armed Robbery. Officers canvassed the area for the second suspect and the victim’s stolen property to no avail.
INCIDENT #2: At about 2:07 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a commercial alarm in the area of 473 West Broadway at the 7-Eleven. Upon arrival, officers observed that the glass front door had been smashed with a large granite block. Officers cleared the store and found no one inside, however, they observed that the rack containing the Newport cigarettes was nearly empty and the cigarette and scratch ticket racks were disheveled. When the store owner responded, the officers were able to view surveillance video tape and broadcast a suspect description. Officers on patrol observed a male fitting the suspect’s description a few blocks away in the rear of 95 G Street and confirmed he was the suspect from the security footage. The officers recovered approximately 89 packs of Newport cigarettes from the suspect, as well as a bag of screwdrivers, a hammer, and other tools, amongst his possessions. Officers arrested 57-year-old Patrick Keane of Boston and charged him with Breaking and Entering, Destruction of Property, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Trespassing, Larceny over $250, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
