Keeping Boston Safe: Two Suspects Arrested After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of Loaded Firearm, Ammunition, Drugs and Cash in Dorchester

At about 12:09 PM on Friday, December 8, 2017, members of the District C-11 (Dorchester) Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation in the area of 1591 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester. Officers made peaceful entry and were able to safely recover a loaded .380 caliber Taurus handgun, 28 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, 16 bags of heroin, 10 bags of crack cocaine, 10 bags of marijuana along with $630 in U.S. Currency. Officers then arrested the target of their investigation, Elijah McKinney-Townsend, 25, of Dorchester and a second suspect, Lionel Barrows, 28, of Dorchester. Both suspects were placed in custody without incident and will appear in Dorchester Court for arraignment. McKinney-Townsend will be charged with numerous offenses including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm while in Commission of a Felony and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, B and D Drugs. Barrows will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
