INCIDENT #1: At about 2:30 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a call for an armed robbery in the area of 124 Harvard Street, Dorchester. A description of the five suspects was broadcast over the radio, and while patrolling the area, officers observed five individuals fitting those descriptions walking on Washington Street near Vassar Street. Officers recognized one of the individuals from recent incidents. The officers also observed that everyone in the group was constantly looking around in a hypervigilant manner and would split up then reconvene for no apparent reason. Officers maintained surveillance of the group and were ultimately able to stop them to conduct an inquiry near 270 Columbia Road. Due to the call for the armed robbery, officers’ knowledge of the individuals, and their nervous demeanor, the officers conducted a pat frisk for their safety. As a result, officers recovered a loaded Beretta 950BS .25 caliber firearm from the front jacket pocket of 18-year-old Jahmar Clarke of Dorchester. Officers arrested Clarke and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Carrying a Firearm on a School Campus.

INCIDENT #2: At about 2:45 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 16 Rexford Street. Officers were informed that the two suspects were seen wearing dark clothing and running down Rexford toward Cummins Highway. Officers, who were already in the immediate area on an unrelated call, observed a motor vehicle idling at the corner of Rexford and Cummins Highway, with a male wearing dark clothing in the driver’s seat. Officers approached the vehicle and conducted an inquiry of the driver. Due to the operator’s evasive answers to the officers’ questions and the call for shots fired, officers ordered the operator out of the car and conducted a pat frisk for their safety. During the pat frisk, officers recovered a loaded SCCY CPX2 from the operator’s pocket. Officers arrested 33-year-old Kaamal Stewart of Mattapan and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Weapon, Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspended/Revoked (2nd & Subsequent Offense).
