Suspect in Custody After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of Loaded Firearm and Drugs in Dorchester

ONE LESS GUN: At about 8:30 AM, on Friday, September 13, 2019, officers assigned to the District C-11 (Dorchester) Neighbor Drug Control Unit, with the assistance of members of the District E-5 (West Roxbury) Neighbor Drug Control Unit, executed a search warrant in the area of 70 Lyndhurst Street in Dorchester. During the execution of the search warrant, officers safely recovered a loaded .40 caliber Glock 22 firearm (see photo) with a defaced serial number containing 27 rounds of ammunition, 2 thirty round magazines, as well as a quantity of marijuana, a digital scale, packaging materials, and other evidence of the selling of illegal drugs. As a result, officers then arrested the target of their investigation, Nyjulius Johnson, 24, of Dorchester, on scene without incident. The suspect will appear in Dorchester Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (2 Counts), Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.

BPD Officers Bravely Confiscate Loaded Firearm During the Arrest of Armed Suspect in Dorchester: At about 6:30pm, on Monday, August 13, 2019, members of the District C-6 (South Boston) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit were on directed patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Buttonwood Street in Dorchester after receiving information relative to an individual believed to be in possession of a firearm. The individual was described as a black male wearing a black t-shirt, gray shorts and black-and-white sneakers. In short time, officers observed an individual fitting the description of the person believed to be in possession of the gun. Upon closer inspection, officers noted that the individual was walking in such a way as if to suggest he was in possession of a firearm as he continued to look around nervously while frequently clutching at an object in his waist area. Moreover, officers specifically noted an easily discernable bulge in the suspect’s right hip area and, the fact that, he was wearing a GPS bracelet on his ankle. While surveilling the suspect, officers observed the suspect enter a motor vehicle. At this point, officers activated their lights and sirens and stopped the car in the area of Columbia Road and Buttonwood Street. While approaching the car, officers observed the suspect hastily bend over in such a way as if to suggest he was trying to hide something. After ordering the suspect to show his hands, officers quickly pat frisked the suspect whereupon a loaded firearm (see photo) was found tucked inside the suspect’s right waist area.  

Officers arrested Arndray Love, 29, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.  The suspect is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court. 

The recovered firearm is described as a 9MM Ruger P89DC.

Suspect in Custody After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of Drugs and Stun Gun in Dorchester

 

At about 9:00 AM on Thursday August 8, 2019, officers assigned to the Drug Control Units from District C-11 (Dorchester) and District E-5 (West Roxbury) executed a search warrant which led to the arrest of Alexander Delarosa, 43, of Jamaica Plain, on drug and weapons related charges in the area of 25 Wales Street in Dorchester. Officers approached and stopped the suspect at which time they were able to safely recover 23 bags of crack cocaine, 8 bags of fentanyl, several suboxone strips and a stun gun from the suspect. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs and Unlawful Possession of a Stun Gun.

 

Drug Control Unit in South Boston Make Weapon and Drug Arrest

ONE LESS GUN: At about 5:35 PM, on Friday, July 19, 2019, members of the C-6 Drug Control Unit (South Boston), conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of James O’Neill Street after observing a motor vehicle that had been stopped and idled for a few minutes while simultaneously obstructing and impeding traffic. As officers approached the motor vehicle, they could smell the strong scent of marijuana and observed both the driver and passenger leaning into the center console. 

Officers observed the passenger, later identified as, Victor Pimental, 23, of Brockton, quickly place something into his pocket. Believing that Pimental could be armed with a weapon, officers ordered Pimental out of the motor vehicle and immediately observed a metallic object consistent to a handgun, sticking out of his pocket. Officers recovered a loaded Kel-Tec .380 handgun from Pimentals pocket, as well as, one clear plastic bag containing an off-white powder believed to be Fentanyl .

The operator of the motor vehicle, later identified as Armany Vergas-Grullon, 23, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest for Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class D, (Marijuana), after officers recovered a large plastic bag containing the leafy green substance, a digital scale, and $443.00 in United States Currency behind the driver’s seat.

Victor Pimental was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Dangerous Weapon Unlawfully Carried, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Class A, Drugs (Fentanyl). Armany Veras-Grullon was charged with: Possession with intent to Distribute, Class D, Drugs (Marijuana).

Pimental and Veras-Grullon will both be arraigned in South Boston District Court

Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash During Investigation in Hyde Park

At about 7:32 PM on Thursday July 11, 2019, officers assigned to the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit arrested Joel Skyers, 21, of Hyde Park, on firearm and drug related charges during a traffic stop in the area of 1269 Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park. The officers had stopped a motor vehicle as part of a drug investigation when they recovered a loaded .38 caliber Colt revolver, three plastic bags of marijuana, two bags of cocaine, $680.00 in U.S. Currency and other evidence from inside a bag which had been in the suspect’s possession while he was a passenger inside the vehicle.

The suspect will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Distribution of Class D Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and D Drugs.

Keeping Boston Safe: At about 10:35 AM on Thursday May 23, 2019, officers assigned to the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit arrested Cesario Soto Cueto, 30, of Roslindale on drug related charges during an investigation in the area of Harrison Avenue in Roslindale. Officers simultaneously executed search warrants for the suspect, his motor vehicle and his residence which led to the recovery of more than 1,620 grams of fentanyl and $5,179 in U.S. Currency. The suspect was placed in custody on scene without incident and will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs.

Keeping Boston Safe: Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of Drugs and Cash in Hyde Park: In ongoing efforts to stem the flow of illegal drugs in Boston, members of the District C-6 (South Boston) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant in the area of 15 Valencia Road in Hyde Park. At about 11:04am, on Monday, May 13, 2019, officers entered the above-mentioned location peacefully and without incident. Once inside, officers located and confiscated over $5,600 in US Currency, several Class B Drugs (Ecstasy) in pill form, six large plastic bags of a Class D Drug (Marijuana), as well as, various drug packaging materials including additional plastic bags and a digital scale. Additionally, officers arrested Adam Francia, 25, of Boston and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (Ecstasy) and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs (Marijuana).

Suspect in Custody on Firearm and Drug Related Charges After BPD Investigation in Dorchester

At about 11:18 AM on Tuesday April 30, 2019, officers assigned to the District D-4 (South End) and District C-11 (Dorchester) drug units arrested Antoine Seymour, 28, of Somerville, on drug related charges during an investigation in the area of Washington Street and Mora Street in Dorchester. 

Officers stopped a motor vehicle that the suspect was travelling in after observing him conduct a street level drug transaction. As they approached, the suspect quickly exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards Stockton Street. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and placed him in custody without further incident in the area of 15 Rockwell Street. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs.

At about 12:03 PM, the officers continued their investigation and executed a search warrant with the assistance of the BPD SWAT Team at the suspect’s residence on Dawson Street in Dorchester. Officers made entry and safely recovered a loaded 9mm Glock 17 (Gen5) handgun, a loaded .38 special Taurus revolver, a loaded .38 special Smith & Wesson revolver, $615 in U.S. Currency along with several plastic bags containing various illegal narcotics including crack cocaine and fentanyl.

The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on the initial charge of Trafficking Class A Drugs, as well as additional numerous charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (2 Counts), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Trafficking Class B Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and E Drugs.

 

Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Drugs During Investigation in Brighton

At about 3:30 PM on Thursday March 28, 2019, members of the District D-14 (Brighton) Drug Control Unit arrested Jose Arias, 31, of Jamaica Plain, on drug related charges during an investigation in the area of 354 Market Street in Brighton. Officers stopped a motor vehicle which was being operated by the suspect after observing a street level drug transaction in the area of Oak Square. Officers removed the suspect and placed him in custody without incident after recovering 118 bags of cocaine with a total weight of 266 grams from suspect’s jacket pocket and from inside the vehicle. The suspect will appear in Brighton District Court on charges of Trafficking Class B Drugs.

 

Keeping Boston Safe: Officers Arrest Hyde Park Man on Weapon and Drug Charges

 

At about 10:08 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, officers assigned to the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit, arrested Dreshaun Johnson, 20, of Hyde Park, on a warrant issued out of West Roxbury District Court for Distribution of Class A, Drugs (Heroin),

After several months of investigations, officers observed Dreshaun Johnson enter a motor vehicle in the area of 317 Wood Avenue and conducted a traffic stop of that motor vehicle in the area of 164 Wood Avenue.  Officers removed Dreshaun Johnson from the motor vehicle and located several plastic baggies of illegal narcotics on his person.

Officers also conducted a search warrant of Dreshaun Johnson’s residence and seized the following items: 1 Smith and Wesson revolver, several rounds of ammunition, and other drug paraphernalia.

Dreshaun Johnson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking; Class A, Drugs (Fentanyl), and Distribution of Class B, Drugs (Cocaine).  He will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.

 

Suspect Placed in Custody on Drug Trafficking Charges During Investigation in Mattapan

At about 10:00 AM on Monday March 25, 2019, members of the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit arrested Roberto Polanco, 37, of Mattapan, on drug trafficking charges during an investigation in the area of Ruxton Street in Mattapan. Officers had located the suspect and were attempting to execute a search warrant for his person when he fled on foot through several neighborhood backyards. Officers pursued and were soon able to place the suspect in custody in the area of 14 Rockingham Road. Officers then executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence which led to the recovery of 267 grams of heroin, 133 grams of fentynal, $5,671 in U.S. Currency along with other evidence consistent with the packaging and selling of illegal drugs. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs (2 Counts).

 

BPD Officers Arrest Suspect on Drug Related Charges During Investigation in Mattapan

SIGNIFICANT ARREST: At about 8:55AM, on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, officers assigned to the District D-4 (South End) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit arrested Juan Felix, 49, of Mattapan, during an investigation on Deering Road in Mattapan. Officers located and stopped the suspect as he approached a parked motor vehicle at which time they executed a search warrant for his person which led to the discovery and recovery of 77 small bags of a Class A Drug (Fentanyl) from his front right pants pocket, 2 medium sized bags of fentanyl from his front left pants pocket along with $268.00 in U.S. Currency. Officers determined the total weight of the drugs to be 132 grams. The suspect was then placed in custody on scene without incident. Officers continued their investigation, executing a search warrant of the suspect’s residence which led to the discovery and recovery of additional amounts of drugs and cash. In total, officers seized over 500 grams of a Class A Drug (Fentanyl) and $7300 in U.S. Currency. Mr. Felix is charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Fentanyl).

 

BPD Officers Arrest Two Suspects While Recovering a Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash During Investigation in Dorchester

At about 6:25 PM on Sunday March 10, 2019, officers assigned to the District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) Drug Control Unit arrested two suspects on firearm and drug related charges during an investigation in the area of West Main Street and Morton Street in Dorchester. Officers performed a traffic stop after observing a street level drug transaction at which time they arrested the rear seat passenger, Wilbert Soto, 21, of Jamaica Plain, without incident. Officers then recovered various edibles, THC and BHO cartridges, loose marijuana and cash from inside the vehicle near where the suspect had been seated. Officers continued their investigation which led to the recovery of a loaded .380 caliber Lorcin handgun from inside the trunk of the vehicle. Officers then arrested the operator, Luis Otero, 21, of Jamaica Plain, who was placed in custody without incident. Both suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment. Wilbert Soto will be charged with Distribution of Class D Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C and D Drugs. Luis Otero will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C and D Drugs.

Suspect in Custody After Investigation Leads to the Recovery of Firearms, Ammunition, Drugs and Cash in Dorchester

SAFER BOSTON: At about 5:00 PM on Tuesday March 5, 2019, members of the District B-3 (Mattapan) Drug Control Unit arrested Dana Sams, 42, of Dorchester on numerous firearm and drug related charges during an investigation in Dorchester. Officers executed a search warrant for both the suspect and his vehicle during a traffic stop in the area of 236 Seaver Street in Roxbury which resulted in the recovery of several bags of heroin, powdered cocaine and crack cocaine along with $1,903 in U.S. Currency. Officers later determined the total approximate weight of the drugs recovered to be 20 grams of heroin, 4 grams of powdered cocaine and 24 grams of crack cocaine. Officers simultaneously executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence on Florida Street in Dorchester which resulted in the recovery of a .22 caliber scoped rifle, a 9mm Mac-11 machine pistol, a 9mm handgun, a .380 caliber handgun, numerous rounds of various calibers of ammunition along with seven assorted extended magazines.

The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (4 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device (7 Counts) and Trafficking Class A and B Drugs.

 

BPD Officers Arrest Store Clerk for Unlawful Sale of Marijuana Cigarettes and Edibles in South Boston

BPD Officers Arrest Store Clerk for Unlawful Sale of Marijuana Cigarettes and Edibles in South Boston: Acting on several community complaints and concerns relative to the unlawful sale of marijuana and marijuana-infused edibles out of the King Smoke Shop at 600 East Broadway Street in South Boston, detectives assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) with help from both the District C-6 (South Boston) and District A-1 (Downtown) Drug Control Units initiated an investigation to better understand the facts and circumstances fueling the concerns. As a result of the investigation, which included undercover purchases of marijuana inside the store, officers were able to accumulate sufficient evidence and cause to charge two employees of the establishment with the unlawful sale of marijuana. On today’s date, Monday, February 11, 2019, an officer working in an undercover capacity entered the establishment and purchased several marijuana cigarettes.

In light of the illegal purchases, investigators arrested Saqib Imran, 38, of Brockton and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (Marijuana). Additionally, officers charged the owner of the store, Tanveer Shah, 61, of Bellingham with Possession with Intent to Distribute both a Class D Drug (Marijuana) and a Class C Drug (THC). Soon after the arrests, a search warrant was obtained in order to properly quantify and catalogue the store’s illegal marijuana inventory. During the search, officers were able to locate and confiscate multiple marijuana cigarettes and marijuana-infused edibles and candies.

 Specifically, officers recovered the following:

  • Over 60 bags of edible Marijuana candies

  • 67 vials of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

  • 26 Moon Rock Marijuana candy containers

  • 95 Marijuana cigarettes

  • Over $1,000 in US Currency

Both individuals are scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, February, 12, 2019 in South Boston District Court.

Suspect Under Arrest After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of a Loaded Firearm and Drugs in Roxbury

 

At about 8:40 AM on Friday January 18, 2019, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit and the District D-4 (South End) Drug Control Unit arrested Hakeem Cooper, 23, of West Roxbury on firearm and drug related charges as part of an investigation in the area of 80 Fenwood Road in Roxbury. Officers executed a search warrant which led to the recovery a loaded .45 caliber Colt handgun along with 21 small plastic bags of crack cocaine and other evidence. As a result, the suspect was placed in custody on scene without incident. It was later revealed that the firearm had previously been reported stolen in Georgia.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Armed Career Criminal (Level 3), Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (2nd and Subsequent), Improper Storage of a Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property.

 

BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm After Violent Struggle During Drug Investigation in Roxbury

At about 5:19 PM on Tuesday January 15, 2019, members of the District D-4 (South End) Drug Control Unit arrested Gerald Moore, 23, of Hyde Park, on firearm and drug related charges after conducting a traffic stop as part of an investigation in the area Blue Hill Avenue and Waverly Street in Roxbury. Officers had stopped the vehicle which was being operated by the suspect and were speaking to him when he suddenly exited the vehicle and took off running down Blue Hill Avenue. Officers caught up to the suspect a short distance later at which time he began to reach towards a camouflaged pouch that was attached to his waist area. As officers attempted to restrain the suspect, one of them clearly felt a handgun inside the pouch as he struggled to control the suspect’s hands while alerting the others to the presence of the weapon. Officers were eventually able to place the suspect in custody while safely recovering a loaded 9mm Ruger SR9 handgun from inside pouch. It was later revealed the firearm had previously been reported stolen in Maine in 2018.

The suspect will appear in Boston Municipal Court on numerous charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Distribution of Class B Drugs, Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Receiving Stolen Property.

 

BPD Officers Arrest Two Suspects While Recovering Drugs and Cash During Investigation in Hyde Park

 

At about 10:00 AM on Tuesday January 15, 2019, members of the Boston Police Drug Control Unit and Auto Theft Task Force arrested Jason Martinez, 24, of Dorchester and Dionna Caruthers, 20, of Dorchester on drug related charges as part of an investigation in the area of Tower Street and Hyde Park Avenue in Hyde Park. Officers applied for and were granted arrest warrants for each of the suspects out of West Roxbury District Court as well as five search warrants out of Dorchester District Court as part of this large-scale investigation. Officers were able to locate both targets travelling in a motor vehicle on Hyde Park Avenue at which time they performed a traffic stop. Officers removed Caruthers, who was operating the vehicle and Martinez, who was in the front passenger seat. Officers were then able to safely recover one medium sized bag of heroin with an approximate weight of 10.8 grams as well as one plastic bag containing 8 small bags of heroin in addition to another plastic bag containing 6 small bags of heroin. Officers also seized $3,640.00 in U.S. Currency and other evidence.

Both parties were taken into custody without incident and will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs, Distribution of Class A Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

 

Keeping Boston Safe: Execution of Search Warrant Leads to Recovery of Firearm, Drugs and Cash in Jamaica Plain

Keeping Boston Safe: As a result of a months-long investigation, members of the District E-18 (Hyde Park) and District A-7 (East Boston) Drug Control Units working in partnership the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at 42 Forbes Street in Jamaica Plain.

As a result of the search, the following items were recovered:

·       508 grams of a Class A narcotic (Fentanyl)

·       A loaded Smith and Wesson 357 magnum firearm

·       Several rounds of ammunition

·       Over a $1,300 in US Currency

·       A digital scale and several other items commonly associated and used in the drug trade

Additionally, officers arrested Abel Pagan, 38, of Boston and charged him with Trafficking a Class A Drug (Fentanyl) Over 200 grams, Trafficking a Class A Drug Within 300 Feet of a School Zone, Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. 

Keeping Boston Safe: Search Warrant Enables Members of the District C-11 Drug Control Unit to Arrest Two Suspects Following the Seizure of Crack Cocaine, Counterfeit Cash and a Gun in Dorchester

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 10:48 AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, members of the District C-11 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant in the area of the 500 block of Talbot Ave in Dorchester. As a result of the search, officers were able to seize 2 plastic bags containing a Class B Drug (Crack Cocaine), a loaded Glock 22 firearm, a ballistic bullet resistant vest, over 100 rounds of live ammunition and over $700 in counterfeit US Currency. Additionally, officers arrested Matthew Lyden, 40, of Dorchester, who had an outstanding default warrant out of Woburn District Court for Possession of a Class B Drug and Unlicensed Operation of Motor Vehicle, and charged him with Possession of a Class B Drug (Crack Cocaine). Officers also arrested Edwin Powell, 45, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Crack Cocaine).
