Keeping Boston Safe: Suspect in Custody After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of Loaded Firearm, Bullet Proof Vest, Drugs and Cash in Brighton

Keeping Boston Safe: At about 5:10 AM on Monday November 19, 2018, members of the District D-14 Drug Control Unit (Brighton) assisted by the BPD SWAT Team executed a search warrant as part of an investigation in the area of 81 Faneuil Street in Brighton. As a result, officers located and seized a loaded .32 caliber Iver Johnson revolver, a ballistic vest in a tactical carrier, along with several bags of marijuana and $485.00 in U.S. Currency. Officers then arrested the target of their investigation, Cesar Crespo, 20, of Brighton, placing him in custody on scene without incident. The suspect will appear in Brighton District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Distribution with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 8:10 AM, on Thursday, November 15, 2018, members of the District B-3 Drug Control Unit (Mattapan) arrested Jesus Mojica, 33, of Mattapan, after executing a search warrant in the area of 1317 Blue Hill Avenue. As a result of their investigation, officers located and seized a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, a loaded .22 caliber North American revolver, $4,029.00 in U.S. Currency along with several bags of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (2 Counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.

 

Two Suspects in Custody After Search Warrant Leads to Fentanyl Seizure in South Boston

At about 12:00PM on Thursday November 15, 2018, members of the District C-6 Drug Control Unit (South Boston) and officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) executed a search warrant in the area of 30 Orton Marotta Way.  As a result of the search warrant, officers located and seized two scales, $900 US Currency, and numerous bags of Fentanyl with an approximate total weight of 136 grams.  

Wilden D. Suazo, 30 of Boston and Cheryl Higgins, 54 Boston were placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Fentanyl). Both will be arraigned in South Boston District Court.

 

Great  Work Recognized: BPD Drug Control Officers Arrest Suspect Armed with Two Knives During Confrontation in Roxbury

 

Sergeant Detective Dennis Cogavin and Police Officers Daren Bradshaw, Patrick Flaherty and Charles Moore, assigned to the District E-13 Drug Control Unit, recently arrested an armed suspect while defusing a potentially violent confrontation in the area of 1990 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury. The officers were conducting a drug investigation in the area when they observed a male suspect armed with two knives chasing a male victim on the opposite side of the street.

The officers immediately responded, sprinting across the street to intervene. Officers ordered the suspect to drop the weapons and placed him in custody without further incident after he complied. The suspect was later arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on numerous charges including Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.

Officers Bradshaw, Moore, Flaherty and Sergeant Detective Cogavin are commended for their professionalism in the face of an armed suspect and courage while preventing a possibly deadly street encounter. These officers managed to successfully place an armed individual under arrest during an extremely volatile incident without harm to any parties involved, officers or bystanders.

 For their efforts they are each awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.

 

Boston Police Drug Control Unit Officers Arrest Three After Recovering Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash While Executing Two Separate Search Warrants

INCIDENT #1: At about 11:15 AM on Tuesday October 23, 2018, members of the District C-6 (South Boston) Drug Control Unit along with officers from the BPD City Wide Drug Control Unit arrested Ishmael Morales, 38, of Jamaica Plain, after executing a search warrant in the area of 342 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain. Officers were able to safely recover a loaded .380 caliber Ruger LCP handgun, 30 grams of cocaine, $8,621.00 in U.S. Currency and other evidence while placing the target of their investigation in custody without incident. Officers later determined that the recovered firearm had previously been reported stolen in Colorado in 2017. The suspect will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking Class B Drugs and Receiving Stolen Property.

INCIDENT #2: At about 3:33 PM on Tuesday October 23, 2018, members of the District A-7 (East Boston) Drug Control Unit with the assistance of the Revere Police Department arrested Daniel Aristizabal, 33, of Revere and Wilder Cuartas-Perez, 34, of Revere, on drug related charges during an investigation in the area of 146 Shirley Avenue in Revere. Officers successfully executed a search warrant which led to the recovery of 253 grams of cocaine along with $16,408 in U.S. Currency and other evidence. Both suspects were placed in custody on scene without incident and will face arraignment in East Boston District Court. Daniel Aristizabal will be charged with Trafficking Class B Drugs. Wilder Cuartas-Perez will be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest One and Recover Loaded Firearm in East Boston

At about 6:45 PM on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 members of the District A-7 Drug Control Unit (East Boston) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of Clippership Lane and Sumner Street in East Boston.  While on directed patrol, officers observed a large group of males loitering in the rear of 8 Clippership Lane. Officers further observed a “No Trespassing” sign posted in the vicinity of the group. As officers continued their observations, one of the males separated himself from the group and begin to walk away while clutching the front of his waistband. Officers approached the male who immediately began running away from officers while continuing to clutch his waistband. The male was quickly apprehended and officers were able to recover a loaded .22 caliber firearm with the assistance of a BPD K-9. The male, later identified as Remi Jones, 24-years-old, of Revere, was placed into custody.

Jones is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Trespassing. Jones is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.

 

Drug Control Unit Arrests Two and Recovers Drugs in Roxbury

 

At about 2:30 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, members of the C-6 Drug Control Unit (South Boston) and officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made two onsite drug arrests in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard in Boston.

Due to multiple 911 calls and community complaints, officers were on directed patrol in the above area when they observed an unidentified male pass an item to another male. Officers continued their surveillance of the male who took the item and handed it off to a female. Officers approached the male who appeared to be counting multiple bags containing a brown substance believed to be heroin. At this time, officers attempted to take the male into custody. The male began to throw the plastic bags and continued to struggle with officers. Officers were able to placed the male under arrest. Concurrently, officers observed the female return to the area and attempt to pick up the bags which the male had thrown. Officers then placed the female under arrest. Officers recovered multiple small plastic bags containing substances believed to be heroin and crack cocaine.

The male, identified as Rigoberto Villalona, 36-years-old of Dorchester and the female, identified as Crystal Andrade, 35-years-old, of Boston, were both placed under arrest. Villalona is charged with Distribution of Class A Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs. Andrade is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws. Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Keeping Boston Safe: At about 12:45 PM on Saturday September 29, 2018, officers assigned to the District B-3 (Mattapan) Drug Control Unit arrested Edgardo Bracero-Caberra, 33, of Dorchester after executing a search warrant as part of an investigation in the area of 422 Norfolk Street in Dorchester. Officers were able to safely recover a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, a loaded .380 caliber Llama handgun, 46 rounds of ammunition, 80 grams of cocaine, $10, 804.00 in U.S. Currency, an empty firearm holster and other evidence. The suspect was placed in custody on scene without incident and will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Trafficking Class B Drugs.

 

Keeping Boston Safe: Search Warrant Enables Members of the BPD Drug Control Unit to Seize Over $60,000 in U.S. Currency During a Drug Arrest in Roslindale

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 9:02AM, on Friday, September 21, 2018, members of the District E-5 (West Roxbury) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant as part of an investigation in the area of 133 Cornell Street in Roslindale. As a result of their efforts, officers were able to recover approximately 70 grams of cocaine and over $60,000 in U.S. Currency while arresting Peter Akara, 36, of Roslindale, without incident on scene. The suspect will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Trafficking Class B Drugs (Cocaine).

 

Keeping Boston Safe: Separate Drug Investigations Lead to the Simultaneous Execution of Two Search Warrants at the Same Address in Dorchester

At about 4:45 AM on Friday August 24, 2018, BPD Drug Control Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) and District C-11 (Dorchester) simultaneously executed two search warrants in a coordinated effort with BPD SWAT Team in the area of 33 Regina Road in Dorchester. The warrants stemmed from two separate investigations which focused on two different apartments inside the same address. Officers arrested a 60-year-old male from Dorchester after making peaceful entry into Apartment #2 and recovering 38 small bags of crack cocaine, 2 medium sized bags of heroin along with other evidence. The suspect has since been arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs. Officers made a forced entry into Apartment #5 where they arrested the target of the second investigation, 31-year-old male from Dorchester, after locating him hiding in a bedroom closet. Officers then safely recovered a loaded .380 caliber ATM handgun, an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency, 53 suboxone strips, crack cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale and packaging materials. The second suspect has since been arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (2 counts) and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.

 

Keeping Boston Safe: BPD Drug Control Unit Seizes Over 600 Grams of Heroin in Roxbury

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: In ongoing efforts to protect and serve the citizens of Boston while targeting those who engage in the trafficking of illegal narcotics, members of the District C-6 Neighborhood Drug Control Unit seized a significant quantity of illegal drugs in Roxbury earlier today. At about 1:06pm, on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, officers executed a search warrant in the area of 389 Dudley Street in Roxbury. As a result of the search, officers confiscated over 600 grams of a Class A Drug (Heroin), over $4,000 in US Currency and various items commonly associated with illegal drug transactions including plastic baggies and digital scales. Additionally, officers charged Jose Ramon Moto, 29, of Boston with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Heroin).

KEEPING BOSTON SAFE: At about 4:55 AM on Friday August 10, 2018, members of the District D-14 (Brighton) Drug Control Unit in a coordinated effort with the Boston Police SWAT Team arrested Japhet Mendoza, 30, of Brighton, on firearm and drug related charges in the area of 41 Faneuil Street in Brighton. Officers successfully exectued a search warrant which led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm Astra handgun, four bags of fentanyl with an approximate weight of 50 grams, one bag of cocaine weighing about 8 grams, one large bag of marijuana, $308.00 in U.S. Currency along with several counterfeit bills and other evidence. The suspect will be arraigned in Brighton District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm while in Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs and Possession of Counterfeit Bills.

 

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Drugs and Cash During Investigation in South Boston

 

At about 7:26 PM on Tuesday July 31, 2018, officers assigned to the District C-11 (Dorchester) Drug Control Unit arrested Luis Beltran-Perez, 43, of Dorchester, on drug related charges during an investigation in the area of 45 Morrissey Boulevard in South Boston. The officers had conducted a traffic stop as part of their investigation and removed the suspect who was operating the vehicle without a license at which time they performed a pat frisk. Officers were then able to safely recover approximately 20 grams of heroin, 6 grams of cocaine as well as $119.00 in U.S. Currency from the suspect. Beltran-Perez will appear in South Boston District Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

 

Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Drugs and Cash During Investigation in Downtown Boston

DAILY DOSE OF GREAT POLICE WORK: On Friday, July 20, 2018, officers assigned to the District A-1 (Downtown) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit arrested Florentino Figueroa-Barragan, 36, of Revere, on drug related charges in the area of 26 North Street in Boston. At about 11:50AM, the officers were in the area conducting an investigation when they observed the suspect engage in what appeared to be a street level drug transaction behind a dumpster on Blackstone Street near Surface Road. In light of their observations, officers followed the suspect to the Haymarket outdoor market and observed him enter a produce tent where he appeared to be employed. At about 12:45PM, while the officers continued their surveillance of the suspect, a second individual approached and appeared to take part in another drug transaction with the suspect while standing next to the produce tent. Officers approached the suspect and placed him in custody without incident at which time they conducted a search which led to the recovery of 43 bags of heroin weighing approximately 20 grams along with 14 bags of cocaine and $638.00 in U.S. Currency. The suspect will be charged with Distribution of Class A Drugs in Boston Municipal Court.

 

Keeping Boston Safe: BPD Drug Control officers execute search warrants and recover 30 grams of Fentanyl, other drugs from Dorchester apartment

At about 4:30 AM today, Friday, July 13, 2018, members of the District A-7 (East Boston) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit and the Citywide Drug Control Unit, with the assistance of the BPD SWAT Team, executed two warrants issued out of Roxbury District Court for the suspect, 48-year-old female Barbara Delgado-Ocasio of Dorchester, and for an apartment in the area of 99 Lawrence Avenue, Dorchester.

Officers made entry into the apartment and found Delgado-Ocasio, 48-year-old Jose Rivera of Dorchester, a 20-year-old female, and two juveniles. Upon execution of the warrant, officers located and seized the following:

  • $8,573.00 in US currency
  • Approximately 30 grams of Fentanyl
  • 599 Oxycodone pills
  • Various documents in the names of Barbara Delgado and Jose Rivera
  • Multiple blenders and a scale
  • Multiple bottles of Lactose (used as a cutting agent for drugs)  

As a result of the investigation, officers placed the two suspects, Delgado-Ocasio and Rivera, under arrest and charged them with Trafficking Class A Drugs (Fentanyl) and Trafficking Class B Drugs (Oxycodone). Both suspects will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Keeping Boston Safe: Neighborhood Drug Control Unit Seizes 2 Guns and Over 3 Pounds of Marijuana in Dorchester:  On Monday, July 9, 2018, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant at 2083 Dorchester Ave in Dorchester. As a result of the search, officers located and confiscated 3.5 pounds of a Class D Narcotic (Marijuana), 2 loaded firearms and several rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, officers arrested Giovanni Maldonado, 23, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (Marijuana).

Multiple Suspects Under Arrest After BPD Drug Control Units Conduct Operation in Several Boston Neighborhoods

On Monday July 2, 2018, officers assigned to various Boston Police Drug Control Squads throughout the city conducted an operation which resulted in 13 arrests. During the far-reaching sweep, officers executed search warrants at multiple locations which led to the recovery of 395 grams of fentanyl, 137 grams of heroin, 27 grams of cocaine, 15 bags of crack cocaine, 6 bags of marijuana and $6,801 in cash. Officers also seized a 2013 Ford Focus along with 368 grams of an unknown powder which will be processed and identified.

One Less Gun: Officers Make Arrest in Shooting Incident on Bishop Joe L. Smith Way, Dorchester

At about 12:45 PM on Monday, June 25, 2018, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 24 Bishop Joe L. Smith Way. Upon arrival, the officers observed several vehicles with ballistic damage and were informed by witnesses that a male had exited a vehicle and shot toward a group of people. One male suffered non-life-threatening injuries and transported himself to an area hospital.

Further investigation revealed that a suspect wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants exited the passenger side of an older model red sedan, hunch down, then fire multiple shots into a group of people before reentering the vehicle and fleeing. Officers and detectives were able to track the vehicle back to an address on Cunningham Street, where both the operator and the passenger were observed exiting the vehicle and entering a residence. Several hours later, officers were able to conduct a motor vehicle stop of both the operator and passenger, as well as three additional males, in a gray motor vehicle in the area of Dudley and East Cottage Streets. Officers ordered all five occupants, including the operator, 26-year-old Jamaal Reese of Marblehead, and the backseat passenger, 26-year-old Tre A. Lankford of Winthrop, out of the car, and as a result of further investigation, officers were able to secure both the red sedan and the residence on Cunningham Street and obtain a search warrant.

Upon receiving and executing the search warrants, officers recovered two firearms and a bag of loose ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested Reese and Lankford for firearm related charges. Lankford was additionally charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, to wit; Gun.

Keeping Boston Safe: BPD officers execute search warrant in barricaded Mattapan residence, arrest one suspect and recover three firearms

Earlier this morning, Thursday, June 14, 2018, as part of an ongoing investigation, members of the District B-2 (Roxbury) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit with the assistance of the Boston Police SWAT Team, executed a search warrant in the area of 19 Rosewood Street, Mattapan. During the execution of the warrant, circumstances required that SWAT officers ram the doors to the residence over 100 times because the suspects within had barricaded and fortified the house. When police finally made entry, officers were able to recover the following:

  • One “AR-style” firearm
  • One revolver and one semi-automatic handgun, both found loaded and cocked in a laundry pile
  • An unspecified number of rounds of ammunition
  • Two ballistic vests and one gas mask

Officers arrested the target of the investigation, 38-year-old Dana Hill of Mattapan, and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Using/Wearing Body Armor during the Commission of a Felony

Said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, “These officers did an incredible job in this investigation and execution of the search warrant. They faced some extremely unsafe and potentially lethal conditions during the incident but were able to place a very dangerous individual under arrest while preventing him from causing any further harm to the officers or the community. I hope this brings some peace of mind to the people in this neighborhood that this suspect and these weapons are no longer on the streets.”

One Less Gun: Officers Recover Loaded Firearm and Arrest Suspect as a Result of Warrants and Ongoing Firearm Investigation

At about 9:45 AM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, members of the Citywide and District B-2 (Roxbury) Neighborhood Drug Control Units executed two search warrants in the area of 40 Lawrence Avenue as part of an ongoing investigation. As a result of the warrants, officers recovered a loaded silver Walther PPK 380 ACP firearm that had previously been reported stolen out of Alabama and unspecified amounts of loose crack cocaine. Officers located and arrested the subject of the warrants, 47-year-old Danny Suggs of Dorchester and charged him with firearm and drug related offenses, as well as Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm). Suggs was arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
